TELC’s Curriculum
TELC believes that children grow and develop when they are surrounded by love in a secure environment. Children learn best through play and hands –on experimentation and interaction with peers and adults.
TELC provides developmentally appropriate activities for all our children while creating an
individual curriculum. Our focus is on the whole child. Activities are selected for the enhancement and contribution towards the developmental growth of the children.
Our teachers create opportunities for children to develop self confidence and encourage active learning through direct sensory experiences. TELC provides a learning environment that facilitates a balanced programme, taking into consideration children’s learning styles and developmental needs, and the requirements of Singapore’s educational system. |

Playschool Programme (Playgroup & Nursery One)
Emphasis is on learning through play in an environment planned to encourage discovery, independence and social interaction. In order to develop self esteem & social competence, children are encouraged to help themselves, take initiative, and become increasingly independent.
Our playschool programme is designed to encourage a balance of child-initiated and teacher facilitated activities. Our programme offers a variety of choices provided within a carefully planned indoor & outdoor environment.
Our goals include the encouragement of each child’s natural curiosity and interest in learning. Experiences stimulate children’s curiosity and develop their higher cognitive functioning skills because so many neurological pathways critical for later life are laid down from the age zero to 3 years. These neutral pathways affect the way children interact with formative experiences during later developmental stages.
Our teachers also help to structure social interactions in such a way that children learn to resolve conflicts verbally. This is an important aspect of development of their social skills.

Nursery Two Programme
Teachers empower children to become active learners. Activities may centre on specific topics/themes chosen either by teachers or based on the interests of the children.
The daily schedule provides periods of child-initiated activities, teacher-directed activities, games, art projects, gross motor opportunities, rest and meal times. Since children obtain their
initial information about reading and writing by observing and imitating adults, our language programme employs teachers who use language efficiently.
Our teachers listen and respond to the children appropriately and read to them frequently. Listening to stories, poems and other literary forms allow children to expand their vocabulary and enjoy the language.
In mathematics, children are introduced to pattern relationships, number sense, geometry, data collection and representation, and time. |
Kindergarten Programme
The kindergarten programme is designed to help children broaden their information base, form concepts, acquire foundation skills and develop a positive attitude towards learning. It is time to build on the children’s abilities and talents in a wide range of areas. Planned activities enable and encourage children to explore, create, question, predict, attempt, analyse and reflect and think critically.
In mathematics, children learn to problem solve, develop an understanding of number sense and numeration, learn to estimate, make mathematical connections and reasoning, learn whole number operations and computations, become familiar with geometry, fractions and spatial sense, discover the concepts of measurement, statistics and probability and learn to recognise patterns and their relationship. |
